But what is crosstalk? And why do I see crosspost from it on Oppo? Does that mean I'm approved to post there, if not, what's the point in crossposting it to Oppo? I have NO idea what I should tag this with to get an answer.. suggestions very welcome.

It's a community blog (like oppo) for gawker.
People sometimes crosspost things they find interesting from other kinja blogs to oppo.

Aha, thanks for the answer :) I don't suppose you know why it's being crossposted to oppo?
Edit: You've already answered I see... sorry 'bout that. The thing is that I've never seen the person write anything here on Oppo, I guess that was what made me wonder. Thanks again :)

I don't. It seems that it's posted by someone who's not active on Oppo. My best guess is that she is trying to get more views.

Yeah, and that's what irks me... I have no problems if people that are active on Oppo crosspost to promote something, but when people who are NOT do it I think it's wrong. And it looks like this person have written a book as well. I understand that advertisement is to be expected on a free site like this, but then it should be made clear that it in fact IS promotion/advertisement.

I un-shared that shit, if it actually had something to do with us and/or was shared by an active member I would have left it. But it just seems like she is spamming for page views.

Yeah, seems like it. I actually commented on it, asking her why she'd shared it and suggested that she came over and said hi before she did stuff like that. And I did it in a very nice manner as well.

Don't you have to be an author to be able to crosspost to a forum?

She could be an author here...we have hundreds of authors most of which are not active.

On that note, i'm VERY careful with my Whitenoise crossposts.
I mean, they could definitely use the posts, but I would never bother them with Hamilton's hairline, or a photo of the debris I'm always pulling out of Mrs McMike's tires.

I think most of us have good judgement on cross-posting to other blogs and often there is a shared interest with some things, and some stuff regardless of relevancy is just too cool not to share.

Cross talk is a common term in electronics where one electrical transmission line induces an unwanted signal in a nearby line. Key word: UNWANTED.

Hehe, I know THAT. I have a background in fixing computers and stuff (electronics, not programming) :)
